Rural India

Here are some pictures of my trip to Lonavala, far from Mumbai's skyscrapers. Lonavala is a town in the Pune District in the state of Maharashtra it is about 64 kilometres from the city of Pune and 96 kilometres from the city of Mumbai.

Pictures taken from the national highway :

Pictures from the paddy fields, famous in India.

Most of the people working in paddy fields also take care of some buffalos from which they get milk.

My first impressions about India

I just arrived in Mumbai

-It is very hot and humid. In fact, when I got out of the airport (which had air conditioning) my glasses got all blurry.  Although this season only lasts a few months so it's fine.

-It's big! I am having a hard time getting familiar with the towers around me, there are some everywhere ! The only visual information I can get to locate my position is "whether I'm on one side or another of the train rails". This is how Indians cut areas in two since those keep on becoming cities. So you can live in Andheri West or Andheri East but not in Andheri North or South.

-It works. I was surprised by how well this 12 million inhabitants city works. Before coming here the only things I heard were that it's crowded and messy. Actually everyone and everything seems at his right place and useful to society. It's crazy !
